There is currently no regular direct bus service to Shelland however a demand responsive bus as well as three frequent routes operate from a short walk away

To get to Haughley New Street bus stop leave Shelland with the green on your left and the church on your right. Walk around a sharp bend and take the footpath left. Follow it through Shelland woods until you reach the footpath crossroads at Haughley Bushes. Turn left and follow the footpath, going over the A14 until you reach the road. Turn left and the bus stop is roughly 50m ahead.

This service is run by Mulleys. The service runs 4 journeys towards Stowmarket and 3 journeys towards Bury St Edmunds Monday to Saturday.
To get to Harleston bus stop leave Shelland with the green on your left and the church on your right. Take the footpath right on the sharp bend up a track. Follow this footpath until you reach the road. Turn left and walk up the road until you reach the road junction. Buses stop on the corner by the phone box (towards Bury St Edmunds) or the bench (towards Stowmarket).

Suffolk Links Gipping North is a Demand Responsive Transport service which runs between 7am and 7pm. The service serves Shelland, dropping off and collecting passengers who have booked the service from opposite the church, as well as neighbouring villages and can take you to Stowmarket (), Woolpit, Elmswell () and the surrounding area.
